Becky Liu:

NEIGHBORHOOD INTERVIEW|Becky Liu

Becky is an absolute delight and came to Bright Side Projects just right when we needed her help and expertise. An intern of many talents, Becky was always there from sketching dream birthday cakes in Wanhua to year end necessities ChingChuan and in the kitchen cooking or creating alongside our children throughout Taiwan.

We were happy to have her as an intern and glad to have her in our Bright Side Neighorhood!

Daisy: How and when did you find out about Bright Side Projects and what made you want to become an intern?
Becky: I stumbled upon Bright Side’s internship opportunity when I was looking for an internship on the internet. After I had a general understanding of the internship job description, I really wanted to give myself a chance to apply for it, because I like to get along with children very much. I also really want to try to participate in volunteer activities and do something that can contribute to society. So I mustered up the courage to submit my resume, and then got the opportunity to intern with Bright Side.

D: What do you think are unique characteristics to Bright Side Projects from other organizations?
B: There are not many organizations I have been in contact with, but I can feel that Bright Side will think from an equal perspective when holding activities. For example, the main purpose of making LINE stickers is to let children know that they too can give back to others. I like this sentence very much, because it can also make others value themselves, and they can express their gratitude with realistic actions, and express gratitude or thanks with skills that they might have.

D: Any memorable moments in the workshops with the children?
B: What I liked most is when the children in Chingchuan took me to visit or introduce their school, or when we went to Wanhua and the kids shared their stories with me. These times may not seem to mean anything big, but I like these moments when we were like friends, it’s a warm and inviting feeling when you are introducing things that are familiar around you to you and your friends.

D: Has this internship or moments in interacting with children through Bright Side Projects brought about any changes in how you approach issues/kids in the future?
B: Yes! I think I will think more from multiple perspectives, such as the kids perspective into why I do the things I do.

D:  How has it been working in the office as an intern and being able to tie that in with the importance of the work Bright Side does with the children when you see their faces?
B: It should be said that everything not too difficult in the office, but there are many uncertainties or unpredictable incidents that may delay our activities that may affect the actual event, but this is the fun of running an event!

D: What are your hopes for the children or what you can do?
B: I hope they can become the kind of adults they want to be, and can pursue what they want to do, although it sounds simple, it is difficult to actually do it. If I have time, I will go back and assist as a Big Friend volunteer!

Welcome to join in our events or if you can read and write Mandarin fluently, join us as an intern!

Vegan Hotpot

Plant Based Hotpot Hour
