今年第四場的木工活動！我們邀請到在三峽地區從事木工教學@有木木工房的Franky老師，為睦祥育幼院的孩子們帶來了非常精彩一堂課！每個孩子都非常專心投入的做出屬於自己的餐具組與秘密寶盒！

就如同Franky老師說的，沒有無用之木，隨手撿來的樹枝搖身一變就成了美麗又實用的餐具！平淡無奇的木板有點耐心與細心，就成了充滿神秘力量的寶盒，可以放進孩子所有的秘密與夢想！
課程中很多大朋友也是第一次學習木工，老師從材料一步一的循序漸進介紹，不只是孩子們玩的開心，大朋友們也學得非常起勁！這樣的課程孩子們自己說他們學到了耐心細心 、技巧、團隊合作還有安全的重要，重點是非常好玩！在過程中不免遇到挫折，釘歪釘子、或是銜接不上，但是沒有一個人放棄，這都要歸功於老師的認真專業與大朋友們的耐心陪伴，有你們真好！
老師更承諾，在未來的日子要回來睦祥育幼院為孩子們建造一座屬於他們的木鞦韆，大家都等不及了呢！午餐是我們自己製作的純素彩虹咖喱佐皮塔餅，希望帶給孩子們一點不一樣的異國食物風情！好吃好看又新奇！搭配上自己製作的餐具組，咖喱變得更美味啦！
就像往年我們的聖誕佳欣活動一樣，我們向孩子介紹了三個非盈利組織，並讓孩子們自己決定要回饋幫助哪個組織，希望透過活動讓孩子們更有慈悲心，把愛傳出去，今年他們選了Mary’s Doggies!
This is our fourth woodcraft workshop and we made something new and learned something different yet again! Franky Hwang was our teacher from SanZhi who joined us on our outing to MuHsiang Children’s Home this time. As per custom for our year end activities, we hope that kids can create their own gifts for themselves.
From branches, we shaped and sanded these as handles for spoons and forks – these can be used as eco-friendly utensils on-the-go instead of the disposables that we have increasingly become accustomed to. We then shared a delicious curry lunch prepped by Rhea that included potatoes and three color varieties of sweet potatoes paired with rice or pita!
After lunch kids started hammering away for personalized boxes. It was a difficult task for many to aim true but part of the process was failing and learning – each child was so determined to complete their wooden boxes that this took longer than planned. In the end, having these creations in which to store their personal belongings was a wonderful gift to themselves.
Gingerbread decoration came up next much to the delight of everyone. When we first came in 2013, we brought along gingerbread with us. But now many of the kids to the children’s home are new faces and have never had this experience. We hope next year we can also make it out of scratch! Kids were also given the opportunity to vote on a charitable cause this year for Bright Side Projects to donate $1000 NT to. After letting them know about several wonderful organizations and their work, they selected Mary’s Doggies to assist their work in de-sexing and re-homing stray dogs in the country.
