看見孩子們臉上的笑容、眼睛瞬間亮起的那一刻，我們就知道——這正是萬華孩子們再次與 VAST 夥伴相聚時所發生的美好畫面！

孩子們滿懷期待地走進位於台北東區、充滿活力氛圍的 Vast Cali Eatery，參加第三年的聖誕餐會。這場相聚安排在十二月，延續了 VAST 長期支持、並持續成為年度亮點的第三屆衝浪與海洋保育營所帶來的感動與能量。
Sam 熱情迎接孩子們進入餐廳，孩子與大朋友們自然地打招呼，毫無陌生感。幾位第一次參與的孩子，也很快融入其中，特別是在喝到那鍋讓人一碗接一碗、直到見底的暖心湯品，以及精心準備的全植餐點後，更是迅速拉近了距離。
我們也很幸運，Ada 主動擔任當晚的藝術老師，運用回收的氣泡紙與紙盒，陪伴孩子們創作能帶回家的節慶主題作品。有些孩子過去尚未參加過嚮光的工作坊，或較少接觸藝術類課程，看到他們全神貫注投入創作，並開心地與他人分享自己的作品，讓我們感到特別欣喜與感動。
在溫馨的用餐時光中，現場充滿笑聲與交談。大朋友們也彼此交流，討論未來在 2026 年，還能為孩子們一起策劃哪些令人期待的合作活動。
最讓我們感動的，是孩子們眼中流露出的熟悉與安心——這正是長期支持系統逐漸成形的證明，也是 VAST、台灣社區實踐協會與嚮光長期用心耕耘的成果。我們由衷感謝每一位合作夥伴，也珍惜這個與孩子和社群一同建立起來的溫暖連結。
這一切，也再次回到嚮光計畫對未來的想像：在那個未來，不再有明確的「志工」與「被服務者」之分，只有彼此照應的鄰里，以及願意為彼此付出的每一個人。

Seeing the smiles on the children’s faces and their eyes that light up – this is what happens with our Wanhua kids see our friends at Vast again. Kids eagerly headed into Vast’s Cali Eatery in the trendy East District of Taipei for the third annual Christmas dinner. This, of course, was set in December after our third annual surf and ocean conservation camp that Vast sponsors and continues to be highlight event of the year.
Sam welcomed the kids into the restaurant and the kids and Big Friends greeted each other casually, with no sense of unfamiliarity. Some of the new children also quickly adapted aided by the delicious soup which many clamored for second and third servings until the entire pot was gone, and the special plant-based meal.
We consider ourselves lucky that Ada took it upon himself to become the art teacher for the night, using upcycled bubble wrap and cartons so kids could make a beautiful holiday themed art to take home. There were some children that had not yet joined Bright Side Projects workshops or joined in art-centered ones, so we were ecstatic to see some of them becoming engrossed in their mini art and sharing their masterpieces with others.
Chatter and conversation took place while everyone enjoyed dinner and each other’s company. Big Friends talked amongst themselves about exciting activities we could be collaborating on for the children in 2026.
What warmed our hearts -the look of recognition and familiarity, these are the foundations of a support system and one that VAST, 台灣社區實踐協會, and Bright Side Projects have been actively fostering. We are so grateful for our partners and for the children and community we have built.
It goes back into Bright Side Project’s vision for the future; In the future there will no longer be clear-cut lines on volunteering or “volunteers” but simply, neighbors and people there for each other.
