上一次 跟孩子做純素PIZZA課程非常成功這次決定一起做純素日本式的中餐！感謝LYNN老師，也謝謝我們的籃球教練亞中這次也陪著孩子！We had such a successful Kitchen Table vegan pizza workshop that the enthusiasm spread to making a complete Japanese meal set. Several weeks of research for filling plant-based recipes that also would be artistic and the fun paid off.
The number of kids was always in fluctuation, some stopping over before the baskebetball session. But all had fun and at least a bite to eat from the food they created. Different shaped onigiris were made, including those that featured the cute faces of pandas. Our teacher Lynn Lin brought back the molds from her recent Japanese trip. Kids made sketches of how their onigri would look and our lovely Big Friend Grace cut “grass” from paper so we could plate our masterpieces. Sushi was rolled with the main ingredients of avocados and local Taiwanese sweet potatoes, and was an additional treat along with fresh made miso soup.
As a final treat we borrowed two shaving ice machines to create “Kakigōri.” This served as the perfect summer treat for the weather. We chopped and added in fresh fruit before chowing down into the shaved ice.
Finishing up the workshop for the day, we headed over to the basketball courts to visit Coach Mohan and assistant Alan during their monthly session. Mohan and Alan have been tirelessly making an effort to come visit the kids in ChingChuan every month to play basketball with them. Many of the kids who are not on the basketball team do not have a chance at practicing their skills and are always eager to have these two head up.
