Beauty is in the eye of the beholder; what the eye itself can see is not only a physical interpretation of colors, shapes, angles, but also our own personal life experiences. Bringing this perspective into acrylic painting from a bird’s point of view resulted in vivid colors of the landscape, carefully crafted through hand and eye coordination from our older friends.
We started the workshops in understanding shapes and how different angles would result in viewing them differently. Understanding lines and shapes; from straight to dotted; using a paintbrush and also crafting them with tape; was a small challenge that our older friends took upon themselves. They decided how the spots of flowers or trees would be placed and the hues of spring utilized. Rice fields and rivers each held their place in the terrain.
Working together, everyone was able to to piece their mini art works and at the end stencil on a bird. We were ecstatic to have this workshop with Teacher JiaChi and seeing the artwork placed up in the community center brought even more color and life to the space!
We are also thankful for the afternoon tea of kefir from GUT co and Sunami’s plant-based teriyaki sushi rolls to end this wonderful afternoon.
