在成為新馬蘭社區一份子將近十年之後，我們於 2024 年底在台東正式啟動了「莉卡希望學苑」課後輔導班。這個全新的開始，象徵著陪伴與學習旅程的延續，也讓我們決定以一場充滿意義的大掃除，作為迎接新年的第一步。

原以為只是單純的清潔工作，沒想到孩子們拿起掃把與拖把、被賦予任務的那一刻，立刻展現出滿滿的行動力與熱情，將整個下午轉變成一場充滿笑聲與成就感的集體行動。
活動一開始，我們先與孩子們討論「為什麼要一起打掃？」從整理教室、維護公共空間，到照顧社區環境，孩子們逐漸理解到，乾淨整潔不只是大人的責任，而是每個人都能參與的行動。這份共同討論的過程，也讓他們更願意主動投入接下來的任務。
我們延續了一位嚮光遠景計畫的青年幾年前曾發起的街道清掃行動，將對環境與社區的愛從教室擴展到鄰近街區。戴上向 Wendy 老師（海邊的接力賽）借來的手套，孩子們沿著街道來回，仔細觀察每個角落，撿拾菸蒂、塑膠瓶與各式垃圾。原本看似平凡的街道，在孩子們的眼中變得格外不同；他們開始注意平時容易忽略的細節，也在過程中彼此提醒、互相鼓勵。透過這樣的行動，孩子們不僅學會分工合作，更開始意識到自己有能力為生活的環境帶來改變，臉上流露出滿滿的自豪與喜悅。
回到社區中心後，大家繼續分組進行室內清潔工作。有人負責清洗教室地墊，有人掃地與拖地，還有人整理教具與桌椅。抹布幾乎不夠使用，孩子們仍主動輪流清洗與更換乾淨的水，只為讓地板恢復潔淨明亮。原本略顯凌亂的空間，在大家的努力下逐漸煥然一新，也讓孩子們真切感受到「一起完成一件事」的成就感。
忙碌了一段時間後，終於迎來短暫的休息時光。孩子們圍坐在一起享用熱騰騰的純植台式麵食與湯品，補充體力與能量。午餐結束後，大家一起裝飾薑餅餅乾，讓空間充滿節慶般的溫暖氛圍。稍作休息後，大家再次投入行動，協助整理即將進行配送的生活必需物資。透過這個過程，他們不僅理解到分享與關懷的重要，也學習到助人的價值與意義。當一箱箱物資整齊排列時，孩子們臉上流露出的，是完成任務後的滿足與驕傲。
這一天，從街道清潔、教室整理，到物資打包與分享，如果沒有他們，今天的一切都不可能完成！透過這樣的陪伴與行動，我們相信，這個嶄新的開始將持續在孩子們心中發芽，也為未來的每一步奠定溫暖而堅實的基礎。

After almost a decade of being a part of the FUKID community, we began our afterschool care program in Taitung towards the tailend of 2024 and thought that cleaning the center to begin a bright new year would be perfect. It became evident that the kids, armed with a task and brooms and mops, took undertook this job with complete passion and made it into a surprisingly fun afternoon!
We loved one of the ideas of one our Brighter Future youth who did a street cleaning several years back and expanded the love of community and cleaning not just in their classroom but also the surrounding neighborhood. Garbage was examined and picked up, thanks to the gloves borrowed from Teacher Wend (Race for the Beach) and sauntered up and down the main street ensuring that no cigarette butts or plastic bottles and other trash escaped us.
Heading back to the community center they were assigned their next task of cleaning the mats in the classrooms, sweeping and mopping the floors. We barely had enough rags for the eager hands and they took turns refreshing the buckets of clean water to make sure that the floors ended up spotless and ready for spring semester.
Taking a break, kids enjoyed some plant-based Taiwanese noodles and soup and also decorated gingerbread cookies. Then they got back to working on the next activity planned – sorting out necessities for home delivery. We definitely could not have had today; from cleaning to necessities delivery and the gift they gave us of love and laughter – without them!
